Rebecca Gebert, BA
Rebecca Gebert is a first-year clinical psychology PhD student in the Child and Family Health Lab at Boston University under the mentorship of Dr. Kristin Long. After completing a bachelor’s degree in psychology at Iona University in 2019, she worked as clinical research coordinator at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center (MSK) for 5 years, under the mentorship of noted cancer caregiving expert Dr. Allison J. Applebaum. During her time at MSK, Becca gained experience working on clinical trials testing the efficacy of several psychotherapy treatment protocols, assisting in data collection, analysis, and dissemination. To date, she has published several manuscripts and presented at multiple national conferences, with many of these projects examining the specific experiences of young adult caregivers.
As graduate student, Becca’s research interests are to identify and address the psychosocial needs of family members of a loved one with cancer, with an emphasis on young adult sibling caregiver dyads. She has authored one of the first pieces outlining the needs of young adult sibling caregivers, reflective of her personal experience caring for her brother.
